{Bright Blooms #7}

Now I'm getting settled into the new place I've had time to do relax and try out some more arrangements. This week I've gone for a contrasting visual: vibrant yellow roses, softened with some white stems, held proudly upright by a tall and sleek black gloss vase. This really brings my living room to life!

{Debi Treloar Photography}

Admiring the talent of other creative souls is one of my main inspirations; I can't fail to be inspired by the great work of a stylist, photographer, artist or designer. Heck, even good cinematography gets my creativity all a flow. Sometimes this can be overwhelming because I feel awash with inspiring ideas and thoughts, but nine times out of ten, it's a good thing. This past weekend I went to check out Debi Treloar's portfolio after being impressed with her photography work in Bazaar Style by Selina Lake. I loved what I saw, especially some of the bright bursts of summary hues and warming, Moroccan-flavoured locations. Yum. Please have a peek at her portfolio; there's photography of food, interiors, lifestyle and more...you can easily loose an hour or two over there. Of course, my total fave is the vignette (2) of pop vases and sky blue wall (I'd love this in my hallway). Which one of these is your fave?

{Bright Blooms #5}

I love this little spot by the butler sink. It looks out over the garden and so you can often see birds eating at the bird table, cats pawing around playfully on the lawn and, of course, there's a perfect view of all the flowers. A fresh bunch of lavender is perfectly framed by the square window frames. It smells pretty darn good, too.

{Bright Blooms #4}

We've nearly reached the weekend guys... one more sleep! I took some downtime last night to arrange some fresh orange roses for this week's Bright Blooms post. Flowers bring me a lot of happiness and I'm keen to learn more about them, so if you read any great floristry blogs, I'd love for you to let me know.

{Colour Inspiration: Pink #2}

All the lovely, sparkling chandeliers from this morning have gotten me in the mood for another hit of pink. And why not, hey? It makes a change from the usual white shades we see painted on exposed brick walls (1) and as for that hallway (9), well, if I walked through the door to that I'd be super happy. Notice how pink and white are paired together almost through out these images. Interesting to see how subtle introductions of green (1, 8), through the headboard and cake stand respectively, help to lift the two schemes. All of these rooms are yummy, which is your favourite?

{Bright Blooms #3}

Here's my latest flower arrangement, which I enjoyed doing last Sunday evening. As I came to pop them by the window, the evening sun suddenly burst through the clouds and the blooms looked great with the backlight effect of the sun.

I think this is my favourite arrangment yet because it's been making me smile each time I see it!

{Bright Blooms #2}

I teamed simple white and yellow blooms for my flower arrangement this week. They seem to look best in the early evening sun...

{Bright Blooms #1}

These are the flowers in my bedroom; I love how the orange roses offset the turquoise vase. I felt like sharing them because they've been making me smile all week.

{Colour inspiration: Blue}

Happy Monday, friends! It's feeling like spring is well and truly on the way here in the UK, what's it like where you are?

As I write I'm sat at my mum's kitchen table, the sunlight is streaming in, there's a lovely smell of fresh coffee brewing and I'm feeling invigorated for the week ahead. That's why this kitchen featured on A Punch of Colour is perfect for my mood this afternoon. I love how it looks really stylish but keeps a relaxed, informal and inviting feel to it. I know blue can make you think bathrooms, but look, these blue tiles and accents make the room feel modern and fresh. Plus, I think I need to get myself some of those blooms by the sink! Love it.

{Accessorising with flowers}

On my recent trip to Paris I suddenly realised that there was one area of interiors I had been overlooking: flowers. Of course, I've appreciated floral fabrics, prints and the such like within home interiors before, but I've always over looked a simple display of blooms. Whilst I was in Paris, my eyes kept being drawn to tiny little florists. My favourite was this one:

I loved it because it wasn't big and grand, or clinical and corporate like some of the major players can be. Instead, it felt homespun and welcoming; even the door slightly ajar despite the freezing weather says, 'come on in and say hello'. The delightful store became even more magical by night, all the twigs above the entrance gently twinkled with a soft, white glow and simple window displays were bathed in a moon-like light.

Thinking over my trip as I travelled back on the Eurostar, I felt excited that I had discovered a new found interest in this part of interiors. I've been on a search for some more inspiration...

Holly Becker from Decor8 has worked up some seriously gorgeous styling with this Heather. A pop of vibrant green tissue paper offsets the purple hues brilliantly.

I've spent what must have been hours drooling over the Terrain website. Part of the Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie family, this cracking US chain hopes to bring people and flowers together. I've made a pact with myself to visit one of their stores on my next visit to the states. I hear they do great food in their cafes, too!
