Three Inspirations: Dining, Entryway & Pantry

1. Dominic Blackmore for Ideal Home | 2 | 3. Chris Everard for Livingetc
It wasn't until I finished laying out this post and came to start writing that I realised how all three inspirations centred around getting organised. Perhaps it's something to do with the New Year? Or, more likely, it's a reflection of my OCD approach to organisation! Either way, these three spaces have me super inspired as I head into the weekend. The first is an excellent example of how to delicately add colour, even when using bright hues. The Tiffany blue school chair breaks the neutral linens that adorn the table, whilst the tomato red pendant draws the eye down to the table creating intimacy in the space. As for the industrial storage unit, well, you wouldn't have to ask me twice to snap that up! I dream of having a home big enough to take an entryway the size of the one shown above. The patterned paper adds interest to the all-white space and the baskets hide clutter - just what my (much smaller!) entryway needs. Finally, I just had to include this colourful pantry; the perfectly lined up bottles, jars and bags really made me smile. Which space do you like best, friends?

Three Inspirations: Desk / Dining / Bathroom

1 | 2 | 3
This week's inspirations include a pared-back, simply decorated workspace - note the map of Paris (nice touch!), the typographical 'A' and anglepoise lamp, all of which create a sense of balance to the space, all the while adding character and visual interest to the desktop. The second space is a Scandi-inspired dining room where a white scheme has been brought to life with bold colour blocking and a textured rug with stripe detailing. Finally, I couldn't help but include this almost dream-like, traditional bathroom. The long drapes, sizable window, wooden floorboards and roll top bath all won me over! Do any of the three spaces catch your eye?

Three Inspirations: Blue Sofa / Yellow Fire Surround / Dotty Throw

1 | 2 | 3
First up in this week's Three Inspirations post is a divine living room that has been furnished with a bold, blue sofa and accessorised with mustard yellow cushions that makes a winning colour combination. Up next is the yellow fire surround, which is a fine example of how to make a statement with colour without painting a feature wall. Finally, I couldn't help but smile when I saw the dotty bedspread; there's something Alice in Wonderland about it, don't you think? Room number one gets my vote (those exposed bricks pushed it over in pole position) but which space do you like best?

Three Inspirations: Antique Desk / Tiles / Sophisticated Brights

1 | 2 | 3
Today I'm feeling inspired by the wanderlust of that view from the turquoise antique desk (which is also rather lovely). Growing up in the countryside, overlooking rolling fields and a working farm, the thought of writing at that desk fills me with nostalgia. Next up is this wall of beautifully weathered, mint green tiles, which paired with the dark wood of the door and old photographic prints makes for a winning space. Finally, this drawing room is an excellent example of how to use bold, primary brights without losing sophistication. Which of these three inspire you most?

Three Inspirations: Bold Florals / Farmhouse Rustic / Circus Lights

1 | 2 | 3
They say things look better in multiples and it's certainly true of this knockout duo of floral pendants. Clean wooden lines of the furniture are juxtaposed with the rough texture of the exposed brick wall; the clash is sewn together by the bold pattern of the drum shades - an excellent look. A more delicate look takes position at number 2, where a simple, relaxed farmhouse setting allows cut blooms and simple barn-style lighting to take centre stage. Notice the empty frames on the windowsill - this is a really simple and affordable way to fill an empty wall, corner or nook in your home. Finally, the circus lights acting as a makeshift 'headboard' in number 3 take the space from drab to fab in a the flick of a switch! Which inspiration is your favourite?

Three Inspirations: Bold Sofa / Trinkets Box / Graphic Walls

1 | 2 | 3
OK, before we go anywhere let's just clarify one thing: that sofa is beautiful. Fact. Come to think of it, the artwork of Times Square (?) above it is also rather pretty, I like how it's blurred at the top and looks very different to the stereotypical artworks that are so prolific for the iconic Manhattan area. Oh, and would you believe it, the rug is also a winner with its delicate details and pink-orange hues. Let's just refer to the first inspiration as The Whole Freakin' Room. Onto number two, which is this darling trinket 'box' that has been repurposed from an old cupcake tray - nifty thinking, hey? The battered thimbles and teal thread had me hankering for some sewing time. Finally, I wanted to share this bold, graphic space as my third inspiration for the week. I remember loving the half wooden panelled wall in this home tour, but this chevron and golden yellow combo works just as well. Why not join me for a cocktail on the sofa and share which of these three inspires you and why?

Three Inspirations: Tablescape / Rustic Industrial / Bold Blue

1 | 2 | 3
With the warmer weather I'm feeling in the mood for a little alfresco dining; picnic or posh poolside dinner, I don't mind. The top tablescape has a charming simplicity to it, I like the fresh and colourful blooms as a centrepiece, with rustic linens for a base. Plus, how lovely are those place name bottles?! The second inspiration plays to my growing appreciation for all things rustic. The upcycled palette box as a low table and old printer's typography template stood out for me here. Finally, the bold blue hue of this outside wall reminded me of the extent to which colour can go to in rejuvenating a space. What's inspiring you, friends?

Three Inspirations: Stripes, Raspberry Punnets, Yellow Chair

1 | 2 | 3
I remember how much I liked the living room (1) when Livingetc featured it on their cover for the October issue last year. This week I had a hankering for some stripe therapy and this space totally did the trick. I love how the graphic stripe has been teamed with the romantic floral paper in the alcoves. The raspberry punnets (2) have always been a favourite for me, but this charming rustic kitchen has me daydreaming of summer holidays, doors wide open and a cool breeze blowing through the house. Bliss! as for the combination of a bright yellow chair and fairy lights (3) casually drapped over a fireplace? This is what I like to call instant interiors happiness! What is inspiring you today?

Three Inspirations: Dramatic Black, Floristy & Reading Nook

1 | 2 | 3
I don't think I'll ever tire of that Friday feeling, will you? This week I've felt particularly inspired by black walls, especially this bedroom with its circus-themed typography that makes a quirky and imaginative statement on the feature wall. Those who have been reading for a while will know how much I adore fresh blooms, so no surprise that this delightful florist's space caught my eye. Finally, a colourful little reading nook is a must for any home! What has inspired you today?

Three Inspirations: Rustic Styling, Loft Living, Pink Floor

1 via 1 | 2 | 3
Do you ever feel overcome with inspiration? You know, when you appreciate the aesthetic of something so much that you just can't wait to rip it out of a magazine, pin it on the wall and then call your best design bud to chat about it. Yeah, me too! That's just how I felt with my three inspirations this week: The beautifully rustic nature of the still life is my favourite, but the loft space is certainly a close contender. I mean, those windows - wowzers! And as for the pink floor and high gloss black walls, well, I think it would make a great scheme for a hotel lobby.
