Sneak Peek: Adore Home Magazine, Oct/Nov

I can't quite believe that Adore Home magazine is celebrating it's 2nd birthday already, it seems like just yesterday that I was reading the first issue. Well, two years have passed and the team at Adore Home are set to release their 2nd birthday issue on Monday next week - and lucky us, as we get to take a sneak peek in the super colourful issue right here today on Bright.Bazaar. Kicking off proceedings is a tour of Armchair Collective in New South Wales, a destination store that sells fresh blooms, homewares and food. Should I ever find myself in Australia I'd love to explore here on a Saturday morning. Up next is another shop tour, this time of Kristy Mclaughlin's Sydney store, Kristy Lee Interiors - I'm majorly crushing on the Cockatoo lamp base! I'm really looking forward to reading the piece on the Mr & Mrs G River bar that was designed by one of my favourite designers, Anna Spiro. Anna's use of colour and pattern is always right on point, and this Brisbane location is no exception. Rounding out the sneak peek is a colourful kid's bedroom designed by Maria Barros. I don't care if it was designed for a child's bedroom, I would adopt that blue/yellow work area in a heartbeat! Thank you, Adore Home, for this lovely weekend treat, I can't wait to read the full issue on Monday. What's inspiring you from this peek, folks? Happy weekend!

Black, White & Yellow Colour Inspiration

The great thing about colour is how it can dramatically change the feel of a home, expressing the owner's personality in the process. Yesterday's post on pastel and neon hues showed us how to create a light, bright and bold scheme, whereas today we're turning the tables with a brooding and dramatic colour palette. Equally as striking but for different reasons, this black, white and yellow colour scheme from the forthcoming issue of Heart Home Magazine feels perfect for the autumnal days that lie ahead. The palette feels might be dramatic, deep and daring but it's also cosy, comforting and inviting as the deep tones are warmed with splashes of yellow. In fact, this is a fine example of how to use an accent shade to keep a room interesting. By visually breaking the darker base colours with the yellow accessories, the eye has a focal point which in turn anchors the rest of the space. I don't know about you but I'm excited to see the rest of Heart Home's issue when it launches later today. P.S. Isn't that typewriter such a beauty? Mr. Bazaar loves!

Sweet Paul Magazine: Dip Dye Ideas

Not only are we on the brink of welcoming a new weekend but we're also about to be treated to 143 pages of inspiration courtesy of Sweet Paul magazine's Fall issue as it launches later today. One feature that hit the top of my inspiration Richter scale is this dip dye story. Beautifully styled by Paul himself, the piece guides the reader through a range of different dip dye craft projects for both home and fashion. One of my favourite ideas was to dip dye ribbon as you could make big batches of it in one go and then keep coming back to use it for months ahead, perhaps to wrap a gift, update a vase or decorate votives for a dinner party. Talking of dinner parties, don't you think that the dip dye table runner holds such a beautiful simplicity? Which of these projects inspires you the most? P.S. Don't forget to look out for my market pages, a travel story on the Soho district of New York City and a rustic warehouse decorating feature - I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Sneak Peek: Adore Home Mag, Summer 2012

The Internet is such a wonderful invention, isn't it? When its inventor, Sir Tim Berners-Lee, appeared in the London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony it struck me again just how amazing it is. To think how this one man created a platform that has led to so many technological advances across our world - it's mind blowing. Just one tiny slither of this amazing invention means we are lucky enough to soak up interiors inspiration from across the world at the click of a button (or the swipe of a finger for our iPad friends!). And this just what we are doing today as we take a trip to Australia for an exclusive first look inside Adore Home's new digital issue, which is set to launch tomorrow. I've long been a fan of the Australian interiors scene - bold, fearless, exotic and full of colour, it rarely fails to disappoint. Our sneak peek starts with a tour of Threefold, a new food and wine bar in Melbourne with a great rustic-industrial design by Travis Walton. Next up we take a change in tone, with the calm and refreshing palette seen at the Bayshore Bungalows in Byron Bay - ideal for getting some nautical summer decor ideas. The third peek shows us the exotic, jungalow style of PAD (Passionate About Design) store in Sydney. I love the uber chic dark painted walls with bold flashes of Kelly Green accents. Finally, the issue is set to feature fifteen of the world's top designers, stylists and landscapers, each giving their top tips to creating the perfect outdoor space. My favourite? It has to be a tie between David Jimenez's Palm Springs retreat-like space and the city chic yellow and white themed Sydney terrace designed by Greg Natale. Enough of what I like, what do you like, friends?!
