It may be the spring/summer season's perennial favourite but that doesn't put any black marks against the seaside theme for Mr. Bazaar. No siree! By mixing in your modern pieces with vintage finds you can add texture and depth to the scheme. Take this armchair, for example. Yes, it has a classic blue and white stripe fabric but then reclaimed chair legs give the piece so much more interest than standard legs. Meanwhile, a collection of found glassware mixed in with new buys creates a stylish vignette upon the light mint sideboard. I don't know about you, but Mr. Bazaar could happily have a little beach hut that looked this inviting! Do you incorporate any coastal style into your home?

I'm all about coastal style, even in my urban abode. I can't stay away from all things nautical and love to collect beach treasures like stones, shells, and driftwood to decorate my home with! I think it's a pretty classic look...
ReplyDeleteYes constantly. I'm coming to you from the northern beaches of Sydney Australia
ReplyDeleteYesss <3 love this. I live seaside... so the coastal style with a quirky twist is what I do! Love this!
ReplyDeleteI love a bit of coastal charm in a home! My powder bath is decorated coastal style.

I do love this coastal look + idea of fabric covering a beautiful chair is brilliant. Oh + I can never resist stripes! xx
ReplyDeleteI do incorporate a bit of seaside chic and its actually a new addition, just this week I got some beautiful resin coral from pottery barn to put on my side tables in the lounge room! PS - Love when you break down design elements like this so I know how to achieve the look! You are too good!
ReplyDeleteSuper lovely blog!

love this color palette<3
ReplyDeleteit's very calming
Lovely colour palette, and lovely chair! Reading your blog post reminded me of 4 mosaics I made years ago, inspired by the tide; they're in an art gallery in the US and I suddenly felt the urge to have them back and display them at home...so thanks for the inspiration :)
ReplyDeleteI don't mind a little touch of the hamptons all year round :)

I love that pinstriped fabric. Perfect shade of blue, and as you said, looks great with those legs. Beach house colour scheme is a classic that will never die. Makes me in the mood for a holiday (again!).
ReplyDeleteso true! that's why vintage pieces always the better options for character and charm! They just need a new dress!
ReplyDeleteseashells i an old glass could work
ReplyDeleteno, but we have plenty of cruising magazines ... does that count? ;-)
ReplyDeleteI will never grow tired of a good stripe! I love the mint sideboard paired with that chair. What a fabulous combo!
ReplyDeleteOh my how cute is that cushion!!!!! Want, want, want (note to myself: look for a shrink). Period.
ReplyDeleteOooh I love it! I wish I lived near the beach.
ReplyDeleteI love coastal accents. We have a few in one of our bathrooms...but the house is so not coastal I don't want it to seem too out of place!
ReplyDeleteIt looooks for comfy! my 'seaside' decor in my home is a large white coral (which we use as a bowl) placed on top of our very modern tv (+ black) tv stand.
ReplyDeleteI live in a seaside town and I never thought of decorating my house as well, perhaps because this style reminds me a lot of holiday homes. I may indeed reconsider .. would be pleasant to be "on vacation" all year!
