So you know you want to redecorate (or, perhaps, just decorate!) but with the sheer volume of ideas out there you can't help but feel overwhelmed with where to start. That's where narrowing down your ideas and inspirations to a handful of themes or trends can help tie your scheme together. And these three schemes from Good Homes magazine are ideal for doing just that. The first, Upbeat, is a playful and colourful scheme with preppy polka dots gracing the walls. I love the colour block legs on the Jonas Klien stool and the triangle print cushion. Elements, the second trend, is more pared back than the first, where texture really comes to the forefront of the design. My favourite part of this look has to be the combination of tactile linens and rustic wooden surfaces. In the final trend, Traveller, we see how culture has inspired a marriage of striking prints and bold hues that result in a graphic finish. Eclectic and earthy, this trend is versatile enough to add and minus accessories as you go. Which trend do you like best?
What beautiful eye candy...

Ahh one more thing, I love the way you crop the pictures and add the caprions, can I ask which photo editor you use ? I am trying http://pixlr.com/editor/ and I can get words on pictures but can't really crop that well, ( maybe just practice !! ) , can you recommend a photo editor ??
ReplyDeleteThank you so much in advance.

Sure, go for Photoshop - it's the most powerful one I know of!
DeleteA combination between muted rustic (like that term) and eclectic graphic.
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentine's Mr. Handsome!

I'm loving the traveller! Bold and graphic is really speaking to me lately! Love these three trends!
ReplyDeleteLooks good to me. Thanks, Will.
ReplyDeleteLOVE these colors!!!
ReplyDeleteI like trend one!
ReplyDeleteThis helps :) I've started checking design blogs, Pinterest and such only since last summer because I bought a house and I'm only moving at the end of March. And I have to say I've been wondering about my style because I go from mid-century to shabby chic to eclectic and sometimes the industrial look. So as I had to scroll down your article and the different styles, I went from upbeat and said, definitely not, then I got really interested in elements and maybe a bit more in traveller or as much. What I think I'll do is go with "elements" for the kitchen and the dining room, a mix of traveler and elements for the bedroom and living room, hoping it mixes well lol I think my style is more eclectic than anything but I also have a strong attraction to "elements". I already have a few pieces of furniture made of reclaimed wood that a friend built for me, including the dining room table, I've had those for a few years before I discovered it was trendy :) I think I'll know better when I am in the house, it was built in 1920 and renovated with all its character, so I hope it speaks to me and I know which way to go :)
ReplyDeleteSo fun to hear your interiors story! Thanks for sharing and good luck with the decorating :)
DeleteThough the Elements style appeals to me on a very basic level, I know I will want to add splashes of color to it sooner or later! I have often wondered if I could paint our garage doors some day with happy polka dots....my husband who keeps his baby - his TransAm there may not be very supportive of the idea but I think he will come around eventually......so yeah it's the Upbeat look that I will go for.........hope you are having a great Valentine's Day, Will!
ReplyDeleteYes! Amazing eye candy for sure!!
ReplyDeleteI love the Elements and Traveller schemes in equal measure. Not too keen on the Upbeat look.
ReplyDeleteI like the three of them. My daughter says number one, I say number three. For all, number two.

You know those preppy polka dots are right up my alley! Can't wait until I have a place of my own to decorate. xx
ReplyDeleteOoh I'm torn between upbeat and traveller, I really need an enormous house to able to have separate wings decorated in all the themes I like!
ReplyDeleteAdore the colorful polka dot and black and white wallpaper!
