Apartment Therapy | Photography by Leela Cyd Ross
What is it about small spaces? They are just so inspiring. This dining area in a recent home tour on Apartment Therapy is no different. The tried and tested grey and yellow colour palette is punctured with glossy black hues and rustic wooden textures which ground the scheme. I find we so often see dining spaces with tables to fit twelve plus, so it's refreshing to see the perfect little table for four. Tolix chairs echo the industrial, factory-style pendant above the table, whilst yellow accessories upon it nod to the splash of colour in the curtains. Plus, notice how the green plant and blue mug lift the palette, preventing it from feeling flat? I just love those little touches! What's inspiring you about this palette? Have you decorated with these hues? What are your top tips?
I really like this. Especially the yellow grinder.
ReplyDeleteTo be honest I am usually not a fan of the grey and yellow only. I often feel that the yellow in those situations end up looking quite daft. But in these pictures with the antique wooden table, green plant and the blue mug (as you mentioned) it comes to live. Together it makes the yellow pop in a beautiful way. Thumbs up from me :)
You are so right, it's the antique table that pulls it all together and softens the industrial look!
DeleteI like the cheeky print on the wall just what you need to see while waiting for the kettle to boil

Gorgeous! I especially love those metal chairs. I found some like them for sale the other day, but unfortunately they were quite uncomfortable. The pain just might be worth it though, to achieve that look!
ReplyDeletehmm... i think that, of all colors, yellow is the one that is the most missing from my home! i have no idea why -- it's so bright and sunny! i guess i just like my neutrals. :)
ReplyDeletestunning! I love the gray-lemon-natural wood color combo. So inviting!

grey is an all-time favourite of mine. looks good with anything. and yellow is perfect for spring. love it!!
ReplyDeleteI love the kitchen--just enough yellow, but not too much.
ReplyDeleteI'm a sucker for grey...so this space is instant love for me. Love that artwork too...first spotted it on a cover of a magazine in while staying in a historic home in Bath, England. sigh...i need a trip.
ReplyDeleteI really love this. Grey allows yellow to pop enough without it going crazy and looking daft.
ReplyDeleteLove this kitchen. I think yellow and grey will always be my fave colour combo! Have a good weekend!
ReplyDeleteDitto - an all time fave! x

This is one of my favourite colour mixes! I love the bursts of yellow in this kitchen and the fabric for the curtains is gorgeous! I hope you have a wonderful weekend Will! xx
ReplyDeleteI love everything about it, great colors and love those striped straws!
ReplyDeleteSeeing these makes me thing about a diversity in taste. While I mostly prefer a feminine chic approach another part of me loves things more industrial, with for example the chairs and lamps in this room or a brick wall in a loft. The grey yellow combination and especially that wooden table look absolutely great and you are right that the blue mug does something good for the palette. Can't share any yellow/grey tips with you though, sorry. Hope you have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteLove love love these shades, esp the yellow touch on both palettes!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this! thanks for posting!
