Oh, be still, my beating heart! What a calm, cosy and refreshing living space this is from the folks over at IKEA. I'm inspired by their use of rugs as additional textiles for the sofa - such a great way to add extra layers of texture. The simple red runner used on the sofa lifts the pared-back scheme, as well as adding a dash of festivity. The reclaimed shipping palettes give the room an organic feel, echoed in the bud branch placed in a simple, glass jar - an ideal way to add gentle festivity to a space. What's inspiring you about this living room, folks?
what a crisp and cheery place to spend your time reading away the winter

ReplyDeleteI really like how this space manages to feel both cheery and serene at the same time.
ReplyDeleteI love the subtle festive details and the gorgeous neutral palette. I think the red runner adds the perfect amount of colour xx

ReplyDeleteI like the IKEA here in Brazil we have similar stores such as Etna or Tok stock!
ReplyDeleteIt's so funny because I have this pre-made thought about IKEA, and then I see their stuff and love it! I guess it's changed a lot since I was last in there in 2003. Haha!
ReplyDeleteWhat a crisp space! Love the bold red and white against the white room! Fab!

ReplyDeleteOh ikea! You can do no wrong! Love the colour palate - it's festive but not OTT! xxxx
ReplyDeleteikea makes the simplest of rooms look perfect. i'm always a fan of a good palette table.
ReplyDeleteThe rag-rugs are sooo Swedish, in every home they used to weave their own from old clothes and fabric leftovers. They more or less dissappeard in the middle of the 20th Century, but now they are seriously back in fashion. There are companies selling old rag-rugs sewn togehter to make big carpets (as I'm sure you have seen) and they do not sell them cheap!
ReplyDeleteThe kitchentowels that the pillowcases are made of is also very traditional in style, even though this is a very cheap version. My mother weaved her own kitchentowels in white with some red stripes and then embroidered her initials on them in the same red yarn.
