Given Sibella Court worked in New York City for ten years as an interior stylist for leading American magazines and brand, it is no surprise that her second book, A Stylist's Guide to NYC, is a visual treat. As well as featuring her own photography, the book shares Sibella's favourite spots in the city, told through a series of walks and journeys across NYC that focus on 'loops' of interest, such as 'Jewellery and Hardware', 'Haberdashers and Handmade' and 'Furniture and Interiors'. There's also a handy pull-out map of Manhattan, which is accompanied by lists of recommended stores, galleries and markets to visit. Next time I am lucky enough to visit this wonderful city, I'll be taking A Stylist's Guide to NYC with me to direct me towards the intriguing and inspiring places she has highlighted within the book's beautifully designed pages. Have you read the book, or used it on a recent trip to the city? What did you think of it?

ooh the first peek, thanks Will! I need to get my hands on it, Etcetera is one of my favourite books ever and this looks just as great.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen it no, but it definitely looks like the perfect book accompaniment to the fabulous NYC. Thanks for sharing Will! xo
ReplyDeleteIt is a purchase for me, for sure!
ReplyDeleteI love this book! I bought it a few weeks ago and all I want to do is travel to NYC and check out her recommendations. I love the pocket on the inside flaps for shopping notes and places to stop for good coffee along the way.
ReplyDeleteShe's a clever cookie this one. I have seen some of her work here in Sydney and she's always on the mark.
ReplyDeleteThe book is on my wishlist too..

Will I was lucky enough to do a workshop with Sibella a few weeks back (see my post here: http://flotsamfriends.blogspot.com/2011/05/sibella-court-styling-w-sticks-stones.html). She's one amazing woman. The book looks fantastic and I so don't know why I didn't buy it when I was there. Some of the places she mentions I know well as I lived there for 2 years but there are thousands of others I don't know about... Maybe I didn't buy it as it's like a tease and at this stage in my life, I don't know when I'll be back to that magical city?! Prux
ReplyDeleteI miss NYC a lot...! I wish I was there right now =(. But, your blog made me smile, I like it very much! I'm becoming a follower! =)
