Trend: Decorating With Exposed Bulbs

1 | 2 | 3 | 45 | 6 | 7 | 8
It's been used to decorate many an industrial bakery, cafe and bar but it been yet to take a prominent position across mainstream decorating stores. I am of course talking about exposed lighting, which has been enjoying a steady resurgence in popularity over the past year or so. No surprise then that big brand decorating stores on both sides of the Atlantic - namely West Elm and John Lewis - are embracing the trend, with filament lighting featuring across both of their Autumn/Winter and Fall collections. I think the look works best in multiples - cluster together a series of simple, drop pendants or line up a trio of table lamps along a sideboard, using different shape bulbs to add interest. I've added a Calex bulb to my photographic standard lamp, which gives off a warm, smoky brown hue - I love how the light dances upon the metallic surface. Have you ever used exposed bulbs for your lighting?
