Happy Weekend: Colourful Wardrobe DIY

Happy weekend, friends! I'm so pleased the weekend has arrived as I've just moved into a new apartment and I'm keen to start putting my stamp on the place. I have curtains to make and furniture to arrange, rearrange and then rearrange again! Plus, my mum is visiting for the day so I'm looking forward to catching up and going for a little shopping trip together. What are your plans? If you're looking for a fun DIY then this project is a perfect way to add bolder hues into a bedroom space. By painting the inside of the wardrobe in a hot hue, you only see it when you open it - a quirky, unobtrusive way to add colour. Start by emptying the wardrobe, masking the desired area to be painted with tape and then sanding the wooden surface down. Wipe clean with a damp cloth and then priming with at least two coats to give a better final finish. Once dry, paint with your desired colour and varnish when dry to protect it. Finally, peel off the masking tape for perfect edges. Too busy to DIY? No fear, you can buy these colourful wardrobes from Bababua. I'd love to know what colours would you choose if you did this DIY?

  1. If I did this I would do bright colours, like a deep azure, or hot pink! :)

    Et tu, tutu?

  2. It's like the wardrobe version of an Ozwald Boateng suit! Simple but effective, love it. Think I'd go for a pretty but subtle shade like duck egg blue, still one of my favourite colours. Happy nesting!

  3. What a fun way to infuse color in a private way ;)

    1. That's what I thought, Susan - great for those wanted to test the colourful waters!

  4. love this! have several places i could use this- thanks:D

  5. A new appartment! How exciting ! Any outdoor areas as well, so you can sit outside ? Have a great time with the curtains and the shopping..
I love the cupboards with the colour inside but I would be way too lazy to unpack my cupboards right now with this lovelu weather :-)
    Have a great weekend.

    1. Yep, we are lucky enough to have two balconies! Hope you had a lovely weekend!

  6. And I guess you don't need to restrict it to a cupboard? Drawers. Shelves. I like the unexpected nature of it!

    1. Not at all - these are all smashing ideas, Ben! :)

  7. Ooh lucky you! A new apartment to furnish - enjoy!

I once painted the edges of my drawers in a hot pink so that if they peeped open it looked exciting inside!

p.s. hope to see lots of pics of your new place!
