Over my Easter break I spent a lazy morning reading the April issue of Martha Stewart Living from cover to cover. Fresh coffee in hand, I devoured the inspirational pages noting down recipe and decorating ideas as I went. For the last few days I've kept returning to their 'Cool Blues' story; the refreshing palette of summary blue hues and creamy whites continually inspiring my creativity. So, there was nothing for it - I simply had to blog about it! As well as sharing the feature, I've pulled together some of my favourite blue and white shopping buys in the market right now. I just love that H&M Home cushion, and that Westelm plate has striking graphic elements to it. Who am I kidding: I love them all! What catches your eye?

Love Blue & White! My parents actually have that same exact staircase, minus the super cool hues. Maybe I can convince them to make a change!
ReplyDeleteMr. Will I love all of the above. I don't think you can ever go wrong with classic blue and white and then if you add a pop of yellow, green and watermelon pink I am in heaven!! Kathysue
ReplyDeleteGosh! Lovely post Will. An instant-pick-me-up color combination.

Morning Mr Bazaar! What a thrill to see this Martha story featured on your fabbo blog today - you see, those large blue and white paintings on the wall in the breakfast room are actually my own! I was beyond happy when I was contacted by the powers that be over at MSL, and to have my artwork featured is so fantastic. Thanks so much for making my day all over again!

Why yes, I am dying over the shutters! So much so that i looked up the resource list and ordered several sheets of MDF. We've got kiddies in a two story place with ancient single paned windows. These are a great solution to the windows over my girls' beds (picture jumping), where I cannot stomach the ugly bars that are the alternative. Yay Martha!
ReplyDeleteHow awesome is that staircase, and brilliant way to use up tester pots!
ReplyDeleteHere's an odd observation for you. Do you think that staircase is the same featured in Living Etc. but just different colors? I think it's the same staircase! Here's the link to the one I'm talking about:

ReplyDeleteLoving those pale blue chairs and those curtains are also fab!! X
ReplyDeletei was drawn to that staircase, so pretty and i think Christina is right, it looks the same!
ReplyDeleteChristina & Helena - I know, I thought the same thing when I saw it in the mag. I think it must be a shoot location that is used over and over in mags for different features!
ReplyDeleteLove the painted spindels on the staircase - so beautiful and such a great idea.
ReplyDeleteAlso in love with the blue chairs in that breakfast room.
I am just dying to do our home with these shades...if only hubby dearest would relent. Loved that room with the blue printed curtains et al. The blue bottle from Habitat...I think I want one.
ReplyDeleteMartha just gets better and better!!!
ReplyDeleteThat staircase is on our office wall too Will! We love the sense of movement it creates as the colors get darker towards the top :)
ReplyDeleteHi Mr. Will , I am a first time visitor here and simply just can't leave. Your blog is stunning.
