Three Ways: Striking Kitchen Ideas

When it comes to the kitchen we all want to achieve that knock-out space: you know, the one room that really wows your guests. No matter how big or small the space you have to play with, think about choosing one key element and allowing it to shine through. Texture, pattern and colour are three elements that you can use to centre a kitchen scheme around; mix and match elements or, just stick to one to create a striking space. I love how the patterned splash back (2) sends an everyday, average space rocketing up into the rafters of the style stakes. Whilst the reclaimed wooden surfaces (1) speak volumes: class, character and cosiness from one texture alone. Have you used any of these elements in your own kitchen?

  6. Tell me what you think, Will.
Texture: dark kitchen cabinets and white marble counter tops

Pattern: rustic plates and roman shades with an interesting/modern pattern such as an ikat or chevron

color: splashes of turquoise used in the potted plants...the pots not the plants.

This is my ideal kitchen....work in progress...a slow progress.

  12. Are you reading my mind? I love this, especially that first kitchen with the subway tiles. I've been choosing materials for the new house, especially the kitchen. I decided to go with a subway tile back splash. I had planned on posting about it on the blog too. I love the colours in the other two-popping! XX

  14. The Moroccan inspired backsplash is right up my alley - and something we'll definitely be incorporating into our kitchen redo even if our home is a farmhouse! Mix and match is our motto... Great pix and inspiration!
